Very slow at getting important test results back(aka collapsed lung or anything related to the heart) 4+ hours of waiting in silence without knowing what's going on with you or even being told what's wrong and then not giving you your discharge papers because of a urine test that you've told them multiple times you don't have to go. I'm just saying, it's easier to handle things smoother when you don't get seen by 4 different doctors and then sit for hours waiting for nothing and then being told you can't leave.
I'm going to make this simple: GO TO GENERAL.
You want a short ER wait? Go in with an emergency. Went with chest pain, rapid heart rate, they took me right away. Nurses were outstanding. Took my adult son, they found him a bed and took good care of him. We did wait long withy elderly mom, but it wasn't an emergency, the nursing home transported her there.
Then a midwife comes in and I felt relieved since they often listen better than doctor. Not this one. She recorded my complaint as back pain and that it was resolved. I didn't have back pain and the pain I did have did not resolve. She told me I wasn't in labor and left the room. She spent less than 5 minutes in the room with me. I was sick for two more days and afraid to seek treatment. It was likely a reaction to the heat but she could have at least listened. Terribly concerned about delivering there.
Got there 4pm Sunday. Kid had an appendicitis. Layed in sever pain for 18 hours. Most of the staff are robotic. Kids room receptical loose in wall they blamed the pump for being faulty. Resident told me they can't operate at night to dangerous for patient. That's code for no one here is competent enough to preform surgery at this time.overall impression pathetic. Thanks Obama!
Unless you're really messed up, you're going to have to wait at both locations BUT the staff at Geisinger (most of whom I've experienced) are not only RUDE and JUDGEMENTAL but they're also UNINFORMED. Once they decide what they think is wrong, they will ONLY STICK WITH THEIR INITIAL ASSUMPTION AND NEVER DEVIATE. I'm sorry, but in a field that deals with something as complex as the human body, that approach is retarded and I don't use that word lightly.
Been to General once since Geisinger and their staff was beyond friendly and actually treated me like a human being and I felt HEARD.
The rest of the recent reviews on here are not wrong. If you hate your life/job so much that you literally get your kicks by belittling patients simply feet away from you then you need to look yourself in the mirror, find Jesus, do whatever you can to stop being such judgemental dbags.
I have been using this hospital emergency room for years when the doctor's offices and urgent care are closed. I am used to the long wait times and usually just expect that it will take a few hours if they are busy. Recently I have having a scary medical experience. I was 23 weeks pregnant and was bleeding, dizzy, sweating, and cramping. I was terrified I was going to have a miscarriage. The nurse was helpful and friendly and listened to what I had to say...or so I thought. She only did some of my vitals because she couldn't find the thermometer or that finger thing that checks O2 and pulse.
