Room was fantastic, we paid 100 a night for a King bed suite which came with a living area and bedroom. Everything was clean and modern in room. This hotel is set on a hill back from the road and the view was great and you couldn't hear the traffic from the highways. Breakfast was standard fare, not stellar but certainly not bad.
Second year at the hotel and I love it. Hotel is nestled in the natural surroundings which offers an extra layer of privacy and beauty. It is quiet and clean. There is a sauna, a jacuzzi, a pool and an exercise room. Room are spacious and clean. There is a quaint gazebo for folk who love solitude. Breakfast at the hotel is awesome. Fresh fruits and juice, coffee, tea, pancakes, eggs, home fries, bacon , sausages, cottage cheese yogurt...you name it. Friendly welcoming staff. Had a blast and will be back soon.
This is a particularly nice Holiday Inn. They have a nice covered parking space for motorcycles, which I have never seen at a hotel before. The restaurant is good, and the staff is friendly. The rooms are newer, and have a comfortable configuration. The room I was in had a nice little couch and chair. There is a nice view of the town from many of the rooms. There is a nice outdoor gazebo area in the back of the hotel for use during nice weather. There is a well cared for putting green near the side of the hotel closest to the entrance. The breakfast in the morning (if included in the room cost) is fairly enjoyable and better than the breakfast at a Holiday Inn Express. I try to return here any time I'm in Wilkes-Barre.
However, besides that, the experience was great and we would absolutely return if visiting the area again.
Overall, it's a decent place to stay for the cost. They've made some updates, but not all are logical. The layout of the bathroom is a little awkward as is the mini fridge. The power went out in the middle of the night in the middle of winter for about 10 minutes, we had multiple ladybugs appear in various places of our room and had to have maintenance replace the battery in our card reader to access the room. The king sized bed wasn't the most comfortable but wasn't awful. If traveling with young kids or babies, be aware that there is no tub in the bathroom, only a shower. The restaurant and breakfast are mediocre, but tolerable. Front desk staff were friendly.
My only real complaint was we went to the restaurant in the hotel and were not impressed. Food wasn't great, I ordered the asian wok dish and my girlfriend ordered the Quesarita. The coconut shrimp was rather good though.
The hotel was very nice and conveniently located to the Mohegan Sun Casino. They have a shuttle that runs hourly to the casino. Our room had nice views of the property and the casino in the distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
